Thrive: Volunteers for Community Harmony Project

(Regional Service Placement Program)

Our project, Thrive: Volunteers for Community Harmony, is funded by the Canada Service Corps (CSC) program. The Social Planning Council of Peel (SPCP) is implementing this project to make a positive impact on the community while providing valuable experiences for youth.

Project Goals and Objectives

Provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for youth (age 12-30), especially indigenous and under-served youths

Support youth in creating flexible volunteer placements that address community threats.

Specific Objectives

Offer volunteer opportunities through three core initiatives to enhance youth skills and knowledge

Target diverse youth groups, including:

Visible minorities/racialized youth

2SLGBTQ+ youth

Youth with disabilities

Indigenous youth

Deliver project activities in specific regions (Peel, Halton, and Toronto)

Focus on service themes like:

Reconciliation, Civic Engagement

Inclusivity

Youth Resilience

Create 107 volunteer placements over three years

Empower youth to design and lead volunteer activities

Key Outcomes

Enhance youth skills and experiences

Foster community engagement and inclusivity

Support youth-led initiatives
